All aspects of the game encouraged more (or at least well thought out) combat.

I'll prob take a break after this weekend for a while and come back later after a new patch or something. I been just running trade routes and making mony but I'll hit traders when I see them to get there cargo and a little xp from them too. The funning things is I actually been doing very few combats. I think the last time I played it was two patches ago, but I been playing it all weekend right now. YMMV I been using it to take breaks from other games. I very seldom have buyers remorse but this one game I do not think was worth the money I paid. I love Naval combat games and NA has tons of potential. The sailing and naval combat are good but need some more work, everything else is going to need a lot of work to be up to par. NA is a pretty game, but not awesome by any means. My advice if you were ever bored by sailing or combat in POTBS I would really, really think hard before I spent money on NA. Really was not that impressed with combat, easy to master and pretty boring, not as boring as sailing, and sailing, and sailing but still not really challenging once you get the hang of it.

I found NA to be an excellent time killer. Publicado originalmente por hammer_of_god:NA is more of a sailing sim with cannons and less character/atmosphere than POTBS. only changing to the pirate "nation" is possible. Nation change not ppossible (only delete char without losing XP since XP are binded to the steam account). Pirates are a real nation (wtf?) and can build SOL (wtf?), but there will some changes in the future

If you played POTBS you only need 5-10 fights and some people with experience and you'll able to fight to a simular skill lvl as you did in POTBS (NA diffrence: manual sailing needed/usefull for better turning rates, you have to watch out for waves (depower D) that your guns won't point in the air if you shoot) its not arcade like potbs but it'S easy to learn. The most intressting part is the ship combat. And thats also the reason why NA is boring sometimes that is, imho, the biggest weakness of NA. The main diffrence which you will learn is that it takes ages to drive from port roayle to belize (cities are same in POTBS and NA) you need around 2h to do that. Does the resource gathering function the same way with various warehouses and businesses/industries in different ports? yeah it is, except the av combat, but they will all try to tell you its completly diffrent. I liked POTBS (except the avatar combat stuff which seems totally absent in this?). How close to it are we talking here, because it looks and sounds pretty exact.
