Like, of all the things people wanted very few people wanted to turn villages into minor lords that don't really do anything other than suck up time and attention and to accomplish this FF had made the maps tiny and implemented absurdly crippling unit and building limits. Upon reading reviews, watching non-santised gameplay and noting down people's observations on the steam forums, Warlords' design choices boggle me. I would love larger maps and all that.īlank space beneath which I'd place any title I'd rather not spent my valuable, finite time on It really does feel like a Stronghold title to me again at least.ĮDIT: It's not the Troop Limit that's grinding my gears, it's the reason why we have this troop limit that grinds my gears. (Then again you could argue that massive armies do feel a bit off place in Feudalistic Settings and I was never a fan of the more or less ultimate tactic of just ramping up 2000 archers on the same castle wall, but yes, compared the unit limit is *tiny*) But I think that always has been a problem with 3D engine RTS games. The only thing that really sucks for me so far, is the low troop limit. The Castle Building is fun, the missions are fun (singleplayer is great and I never had been much of a Multiplayer type in Stronghold anyway), I even like the Warlord system, oh heck! I keep to it: They did a lot right with Warlords, it's just that they are still bound to their engine's capacity. (That was just strange, garbage, and needlessly cartoony)
